    DVD writing software

What DVD writing software should i get. I want something easy to use, not too complicated. I used to use Roxio for CD burining and found that to be really good. But ive heard that the DVD one isnt as good, a few bugs. Any recommendations?

I don't think you can go wrong at all with Nero. There's a demo too, to see if it suits your needs.

I've always used Nero, never had any problems with it at all and it's straightforward to use. I'd have to recommend it also.

has anyone ported several tv programs and tried to burn them as a DVD on nero? I tried this and the DVD gets stuck whilst playing on my player.

TV programs as divx or something? I did that with the xbox, played back using XBMC, but that probably doesn't help. Twas just an ordinary data DVD in the settings, don't recall altering any options aside from turning off multisession.

edit - ah sorry, burning them in dvd format, missed that. Aye, perhaps the Nero conversion thing ain't up to par, convert them first with vdub or what Marcus said first.

Might want to convert them first neil using TMPGenc then burn the output with Nero.

Nero 6 now comes with Nerovision Express (or something like that) which will burn DVDs with menus from all sorts of sources. I had a play with it in work and it seems to even convert AVIs pretty well without any noticable sync issues.

I've got a DVD burner on the way so I might buy Nero 6 tonight!

                    Stu,
Yes its actually converting to DVD format and then mastering a DVD Video.

                    Valken,
I'm using the latest Nero and I get this problem. Let me know if you don't otherwise I'll use the TMP stuff instead.

                    Neil.

I've been using Ulead Video Studio 8(?) to create DVDs, containing a variety of divx/mpeg clips, that will play in DVD players. This software converts the video files to MPEG2 and will burn the discs with menus etc as well. Also, very easy to use.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you... I find mileage varies with Nero Vision Express 3

I made a DVD of One flew over the cuckoo's nest last night from an xvid/mp3 AVI file and the sound sync got poor after 45 mins or so...

What I did to get around it was split the video into smaller "scenes" using Virtual Dub and direct stream copying and make a DVD movie out of those instead.

When you do that it still plays back seamlessly and everything stayed in sync for me.

Other times I've made DVDs from sim encoded AVIs without any splitting of the file with better results. I can see a pattern to it.
