    ntsc - colour

    Hi
I digress slightly, but this itm may well be f use for others.
I hav a few nstc vhs tapes which i am trying to put on to dvd via a pc.
Great everything works except the colour = black and white

This is from a uk vcr which plays back nstc tapes.

Do I need an actual nstc vcr or is there another way and will a nstc vcr play in the uk

    Any advice gratefully rceived

what are you using to grab the video on your pc? it'll need ntsc decoding capability to work properly and this normaly has to be activated manualy for some reason from within the software.

      Hi
      thanx foe repnse
i hav a pinnacle input card with svhs and composite inpts and accepts nstc or pal input also firewire pinnacle input
I think it is the failinf of the vcr - thy allo playback on a pal tv from nstc but they are probably not a correct nstc playback unit as used in a nstc setup

chances are you are feeding pal60 to your capture card, which it doesn't like.

take the feed straight from your vcr, and make sure you have ntsc and not pal60.

99% of Pal vcr's that play back ntsc do so with the pal colour carrier, rather than the ntsc carrier.

You need to make sure that you have told your capture software that you are trying to capture Pal at 60hz and not ntsc.

Thats why I suggested switching to ntsc - many capture cards cannot be told to use a pal60 source.
