Satan has messed my cables up, help me tidy up

    Hi all

I am one of these people that must have all cables tidy, I hate mess and muddle, but as I buy more and more there are also getting more and more cables each going to and through and I'm fighting a losing battle, any suggestions to keep them tidy, I use cable ties but I am looking for a tidier solution.

Here's my list of stuff to keep tidy and cables on each

    Tv 1 power cable
    Sky+ 1 power cable / 1 toslink cable / 1 scart cable
VCR (going to take away as It never gets used)
    DVD 1 power cable / 1 scart / 1 toslink cable / 1 component cable(10m length going to sanyo z2 PJ)
Amplifier 1 power cable / sub woofer cable / 7 speaker cables going into it
2 x joytech av centres (for scart switching) 2 power cable / 2 scart cable to tv / 2 toslinks cables going to amplifier
    ps2 1 power cable / 1 toslink cable /1 scart
xbox 1 power cable / 1 toslink cable /1 scart
    ps1 1 power cable / 2 x phono cable(to amp) /1 scart
    gamecube 1 power cable / 2 x phono cable(to amp) /1 scart
    Dreamcast 1 power cable / 2 x phono cable(to amp) /1 scart
Jap dreamcast (purely for snk games as borders using dcx on pal)1 power cable / 2 x phono cable(to amp) /1 scart

All this is in 1 corner of my front room and tbh Im thinking of boxing most of the stuff up to get rid of the cables (but again tbh I dont want to as if i do it will end up getting sold)

So please help get my wonderful (yes she is looking over my shoulder) wife of my case, the silly old moo (phew sh has gone again)

    regards
    Jason

Hmm... I'm sure I'm just missing something here, but what advantage do these AV Control Centres offer over the Argos Splitters?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I need to buy a similar box to plug my multitude of games consoles into one SCART socket, while running them all through my stereo.
I basically need something that takes multiple SCART sockets as inputs (don't really need A/V), outputting into 1 SCART and 1 set of those Red/White thingers (RCA? I never could remember the terminology) so I can also run the sound through my stereo.

          Hiya

TBH i got them as they look better than the argos splitters when on an av rack, but at 4 x the price they should, also they can split the toslink cable as well as scart so i have 4 toslinks in the one and then 1 going to the amp, and its remote control

from your requirements i would get the argos ones as they will sort all your needs out

          regards

I got round it by suggesting to my wife that we needed a couple of new units for the living room, which she could pick. Now all the cables are rammed behind them, and I have oodles of game and DVD storage space to boot. Everyone's a winner... except the missus, obviously.

With regards to Joytech and Argos splitters it seems to me to be totally up to the person/splitter on the day so to speak.
I had 3 Argos splitters in the front room and everything was fine and dandy except for the 2 X-Boxes pictures looked like it was raining!
I then needed a splitter for the bedroom for the Q and another X-Box,so i gave a Joytech one a try,and the X-Box picture in there was amazing, however once the Q was plugged in the X-Box picture went haywire and the Q was blank, and that was using Saurian's wonderful cable!
I then tried another Argos splitter and both of them were as sharp and colourful as possible-work that one out.(?10 splitter vs ?40)
I now have Sky in the front room and ran out of sockets so ended up having to plug the 3 daisy chained Argos splitters into the scart on the Sky box,and what do you know, picture perfect,no interference whatsoever.
Cant make head nor tail of what works best and why,it seems to be dependant on what you plug into the splitters, and what they are sharing with,if that makes sense.

This may help with the issue of the cabling itself..

The joytech thing requires a plug socket. Just thought I'd point that out to anyone reading this.

                              I would of thought

2 x joytech av centres (for scart switching) 2 power cable / 2 scart cable to tv /
from my original post would of hinted at a power cable :P
