    Laptops

Anyone know of any cracking deals on a Windows laptop at the moment? Quite settled on going for an Apple though, but if I can see a top end Widnows system cheap I might be interested.

I got a Toshiba 2.8Ghz Celeron laptop from Dixons just after xmas for ?599. I basically got it as a replacement for my desktop PC. They've got some other decent deals on at the moment too. Might be worth having a look there mate.

What's your budget, what do you want to do with it and how long are you going to keep it for?

well, I was looking at around ?700. I know an Ibook can be had for ?650 with the student discount. Has to be small, light run most things. Going to be used at uni for work and also when I am away on holiday as I need a laptop for work there.

If your not going to play 3D games on it you can get half decent ones for ?600 odd pound even from www.comet.co.uk and the like nowadays.

Unless you're wanting it to play the latest games I'd recommend an iBook. Just a 12" one will do the trick nicely. You won't believe how nice they are to use and its great having a laptop that "just works" and doesn't give you any hassle.

I think Apple have just lowered their prices a bit in the UK as well.

Where can you get the Ibook for ?650 with student discount? and do you need an NUS card to get this?

Also how specifically is the Ibook better to use than windows laptops/notebooks

I don't go to university, but am doing a part-time college course, I wonder if I could still get the discount.

It seems to work if you go through a .ed.ac.uk site. If you have a friend at uni get him to order you one.

                          Get an iBook.

If you can, wait a couple of months until OS X.4 Tiger is released.

If you can't wait, get an iBook anyway.
