    720p... any way to tell?

I'm just curious. I've got a chipped PAL Xbox which had been configured to NTSC video mode using Enigmah, and I've booted to the PAL version of X-Men Legends (Hence the region free post previously) which is listed as supporting 720p over at HDTVArcade.

I have to say, the menu screen looks so clean and crisp it seems likely that it's running in 720p but I'm not sure there's an easy way to tell. The only way I can think it to boot to the MS Dash and uncheck 720p as a supported option so that it won't use it and guess, but is there a more accurate approach?

    Thanks.

EDIT: TV is a Tosh 46WM48. Ta.

most TV has the info button or something to show you the incoming signal.
often these are turned off from factory but the manual will tell you how to turn it on...

on my Plasma screen it shows the incoming signal but it's kind of annoying when the screen switches between the menu and in-game - i.e. 480p and 1080i...

you would just know for sure if it was running 720p as its a massive difference in quality.

I did have a 'Wow' moment when I saw the menu screen, but then when the rolling demo started it turned to more of a '****' moment because it looked awful. I'm going to attribute that to poor quality footage though because it wasn't at all optimised for that layout (It was using only 2/3 of the screen horizontally).

If the single player AI didn't make me so angry I'd probably play the game to find out for sure. >_<

I'll check the TV manual tomorrow.

if you want a real treat in 720p try either amped 2 or freedom fighters.......................omfg!

the rolling video will still look crap, in fact the increase in resolution will only highlight the flaws in the video.

soul calibur 2 looks ace too but is strangeley letterboxed at the sides, dragons lair 3d(which is actually 1080i too) is meant to look beautiful but, alas.....its a **** game.

it's 2nd gen ALiS 42" one from Hitachi...
it went to Hitachi AU lab more times than I care to mention - I went all the way to regional PR in Hitachi US whom I met sometime ago in order to get some ass in Hitachi AU to move and pick up my Plasma for overhaul at their lab... took me bloody 8 weeks in total...

I was given Euro spec PDP instead of US so I send it off to get its boards replaced/swapped to US spec...

well at least it didn't cost me a cent...

              cheers
