    Bringing electronic from Japan

I am living in Japan at the moment but actually reside in the uk. I am curious about bringing things back from the Japan as I hear of taxes imposed on imported goods. Some items are quite big but will fit in a suit case.
Do I need to declare them to customs? and if I do, will I be taxed? If I ship them home will I be taxed?

    Thanks

First, you should by law declare them but some people dont, thats upto you to take the risk, i aint sure if there is a penalty with not declaring. I *think* you would be taxed about 20% (17.5% VAT and 2.5% import duty) And if you ship them home you would most probably be taxed unless you sent them to yourself as a gift, although im not sure on the limit on that. If it is shipped and then taxed you have to pay handling fee's, which are around ?10.

You could probably send some of your stuff back to your friend and relatives as 'gifts'.
