Zoo Tycoon 2 Trojan

Not a game played by myself admittedly, but according to Avast! Antivirus, there is a Trojan on the actual Zoo Tycoon 2 disc.

I've tried installing the game then cleaning the file, but no luck, I've also risked switching the AV suite off and installed the game, even then it didn't work.

At a loss what to do next.

This may be of no help, but I'd take the game back and swap it over at the shop. Hopefully only a batch of them have been affected.

That said have you visited the publisher's or developer's website to looks at the support pages for the game?

Probably isn't a virus just the heuristic checker is picking up on something that looks like a virus, this seems to happen quite often, I doubt they would release a game without checking it for viruses at least a couple of 100 times

I thought as much, although I'm guessing the problem is probably with the actual virus software, rather than Zoo Tycoon 2 itself.

Try sending a report to Avast, they may need to add a fix for there software so it doesn't mis-diagnose the file as a virus. Also it maybe worth seeing if you can disable heuristic checking in the configuration for the virus checker.

When I used to work at EB (in my student days) EA released a PC game with a virus. We had a recall notice about it, and my manager was infected when she tried to install it...can't remember what the game was, but it has and can happen. Athough it could well be something else.

I remember Myst 2 (Bungie game) formatted the hdd (or something crazy) on uninstall, and recently the PS2 demo disk sent to Underground members formatted the memory card. These things happen
