    My laptop!!!

    Ok, the bloody thing is gonna head out the window soon. I always thought Samsung were a pretty ok firm. But in the last few weeks my Laptop has decided to randomly switch itself off.
    The monitor goes black but the machine seems to be still running and the only way i can turn it on/off? Is to take out the battery and turn off the mains.
    Anyone have any ideas, the laptop is a samsung v25 and only a year old but long enough for the warranty to end and well i'm in Japan so support for a korean company is non exsistent.

    Thanks for your time....

    I have a Samsung V25 also, could be one of two things;

    1. Are you "logging off" a user ? if you do that the screen goes blank but the machine is still on, always been a problem I've never resolved (except never log off a user)

    2. It's going into some sort of sleep mode ? unplug the power lead then right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and check all looks OK and that it's not shutting down hard drive or anything to save the battery.

    Let us know how you get on.

      Mine does this occasionally (different make\model), but I just press the power button and it returns to normal again. I think yours is going into sleep mode, as mentioned above.

        power button does nothing on mine (unless you press it for 3 seconds in which case it turns off completely)

          Ok so i checked all my settings, and everything seems fine. I thought the problem had just stopped but now it likes to restart without no warning?

          Any ideas? Is it overheating or anything like that?

              Is it actually possible that this could be caused by my mobile. Everytime i recieve a mail it seems to happen, or is that just scientific bull****??

                Try some experiments, get someone to send you a mail, and this will surely reveal if it is the mobile.

                        Try looking around the power section on the control panel, there are usually various options for laptops regarding the screen switching off and stuff
