    Gamecube Progressive Scan Question

I have a US cube with the digital output on the rear and before I buy a component cable I was wondering if I could test if it supported progressive scan ? Does it detect the component cable and then offer you the press B for progressive scan option if the game supports it or is does the option appear anyway no matter what input you are using, eg s-video ?

Yeah I think you need something plugged into the Digital port of the Gamecube, be it a VGA cable, component, or modded RGB lead.

Just in case though, try and hold down the B button when the game is starting.

I tried holding B with an S-video connection but got no message so I guess I'll have to just order the component cable and hope it works...

        Hey mate,

Well what game are you trying to use it with? What are you worried about not supporting progressive scan, the game, your cube or your TV? Maybe we can help!

I know my TV and the games I'm using support progressive scan but not sure if the cube does so wanted to know if there was a way of testing without having to buy the component cable ?

try w/ F-Zero GX NTSC and it will ask you to use prog scan.
think StarWars RS NTSC supports it as well...

and I believe you need the component cable plugged in as the cable contains the half of prog-scan hardware or something - hence why it's rather expensive...

Ok thanks guys. I've metroid and F-zero and no progressive scan option so you must need the component cable connected to enable it. I'll order one today.
