TNT PSP Customs Invoice - Freight Charge - MONEY BACK!

Ordered from PA PSP Value Pack + Ridge at 499.99

Just been "invoiced" by TNT. What the **** is a Frieght Charge of ?67.65 ? Have any of you queried it with them ? (they are closed until Monday).

My total from PA + TNT Shipping was 524USD

I now apparently owe TNT ?72.38 please (including their bull**** ?10).

I did'nt appear to pay the ?67.65, but its been used in a calculation for the VAT, which I think is a joke.

On the TNT letter, it states

    Vat charges are calulcated as...

Value of goods + shipping + Frieght Charge + VAT Value Ajustment (new one on me) + Duty charge x 17.5% = VAT Charge

I still only make my charges to be just over ?50.

Value of goods plus shipping 524USD (exh 1.8562) = ?282.30
    VAT Value Ajustment ?6.55

    Total ?288.85

    VAT Charge ?50.55

...But when using the Freight charge of ?67.65

    Total ?288.85 + ?67.65 = ?356.50

    VAT Charge ?62.39 !!!!!!!

    WHAT IS THIS FREIGHT CHARGE!????????????????????????

freight charges usually refers to the actual shipping cost that covers between departing airport to destination airport... Don't know about TNT but with UPS, DHL, FedEx this is what they refer to...

since you were buying it would've shipped as FC instead of DDU or F/D. and with FC you basically pick up all the charges that might occured during intransit... I personally don't use them since they are more expensive for private users - they are better suited to corporate...
Global Priority or even EMS would be better option for personal small import...

        well just my 2c

S/H charges usually refer to other extra charges to process order and others before the item is picked up...

People always moan about UK companies charging so much more than you can buy and import themselves, and then you see posts like this.

You can buy a PSP in the UK for ?320 delivered to your door before 9.00am the next day and with a pixel check, and you can get teh game for ?40. This also gives you a years warranty with a company in this country.

So it would have cost ?360 to buy it in teh UK and have it next day.

But you have bought it from Aisa and and saved just under a tenner.

Importing is good if you know how to so it right, or with smaller items, I laways get caught just like you have

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with paying VAT.

I do have a problem with paying TNT for some internal charge bull**** like Freight charge. This should be taken care of with the shipping cost. I should not be liable for paying VAT on something like this.

Heh, somehow the first post reminded me of one thing that happened to a guy over at swedish forum back in june. He pre-ordered Silent Hill 4 (jp) and he wanted to use TNT as he wanted the game ASAP. He was prepared for customs and all that but when he got his invoice...heh, they had somehow taken the value in dollars, converted it to swedish crowns (with shipping it came to about 900 SEK) and then calculated VAT and customs for an item with a value of 900$. Apparently he had hell when trying to convince them that they had made a huge mistake and that an ordinary PS2-game couldn't cost 900$, but as it was an import, it was possible according to some guy in the cutoms office, apparently :/

                            UPDATE.

Phoned TNT this morning, they did'nt have a clue what the Freight charge was. They told me I need to take it up with HM Customs and gave me the phone number of the helpline.

Obviously thought they'd bluff me, but I gave it a ring! They where very helpful and agreed with me that the Freight Charge appears wrong because I already paid TNT shipping at Play Asia's end.

They said that I should pay TNT the full amount and then submit a claim form (Downloadable from the HM Customs website) and submit it, with all documents, to them (HM Customs) to re-claim the ?11+ VAT on the Freight charge back.

I will let you know what happens next....

I GOT MY MONEY BACK! Got a cheque from HM Customs today, after about 5 weeks, for ?11.84, which was exactly 17.5 percent of the Frieght charge that was in error, so it can be done and I would suggest everyone does the same.

Call the HM Customs Helpline and explain and get a call ref number.
Download a C285 form from their website, fill in claiming the 17.5 percent of the Freight Charge and send to (with a covering letter and photocopy docs)
                              HM Customs and Excise,
                              Priory Court,
                              St. Johns Road,
                              Dover
                              Kent
                              CT17 9SH

I won't be using TNT again, not when there trying to scam people out of money.
