    PC problem - help please!

    Hey guys,

Bit of a problem with my PC.

When I turn it on, the machine beeps rapidly, and displays an error message - "Your Radeon 9800 pro is not connected to the power source".

Fiddling with the connecter causes it to boot normally - any ideas what might be the problem?

Hvae you tried a different connector - does the problem travel?

To be honest, I'm not that great with the inside of PC's - how do I find out which other connector to use, theres bloody loads of them in there!

There'll be a 4 pin molex connector in the back of the 9800... try another similar connector and see what happens.

Look for a label on the PSU... what Wattage is it? Who makes it? Is is old?

tbh the PSU is the most likely culprit.

Antecs are usually great and 430Watt is more than I have on mine! Hopefully it's just the connector!

My 9700 does this sometime when I move the PC. Normally pulling the plug out slightly or just a quick wiggle will fix it. Good luck.

Had this problem myself, my pc beeped a lot, very annoying.
I switched a connector so that the 9800pro had hardly anything else connected to it indirectly (HDD, etc), just look for connectors that are connected to other things and figure out which could go where (kinda nervous after messing around and turning it on myself but it was ok). It hasn't happened since

its defo a psu issue. i had exactly the same problem; when i switched on my pc randomly it would start with beeping and a message telling me that my gfx card was not connected to the psu. turns out my psu was crap and i needed to get a better one. in your case as mentioned before you may wanna try messing about with different connection configurations before you get a new psu. hope this helps

There was a thread similar to this on Overclockers, but I can't find it now. Although I agree with the above and this sounds like a PSU issue. But your Antec 430W PSU it considered a very good one, so a fault maybe?...
