    New router - now I can't access Hotmail :/

Just set up a Netgear DG834G wireless router modem & it's all hunky dory, apart from the fact that I now can't access hotmail - anyone have any ideas why not? It's all a bit frustrating :/

Have you got a software firewall installed? I know when I set up my Netgear, for whatever reason it messed up my software firewall settings and I had to go alter them to allow the wife access to her Yahoo mail.

I have the same router, and although I don't use Hotmail, the gf does. Again has to change the settings on Sygate.

Thanks chaps; I use a Kerio software firewall - any idea what I should be looking for in order to allow Hotmail? I'm a bit of a n00b at all this lark.

Go to the web section, and in the Ad Blocking tab, deselect Block Pop Up and Pop Under Windows.

I have no idea why, but this one setting worked for me. I use Mozilla anyway, so don't need the extra pop up protection. If that doesn't work you could always try adding the hotmail site manually to the exceptions tab.

I have the same router (both at home and at work), but I don't recall having that difficulty. In general though, briefly turn off the firewall (including XP SP2 if you're using that) to see whether it makes a difference.
It's worthwhile doing that kind of thing to narrow it down before you start fiddling with things that aren't broken.

I've sorted it! It was my Kerio firewall - I downloaded the newest version, added hotmail to the safe list & away we go!

              Thanks for the help people
