    Fable and its saves

I've recently bought Fable, and have found so far when I save the game, it completely forgets where I am in the game.

For example, I just entered that training place, completed all the training and killed the beetles in the forest etc-I was just about to complete that final task with the master before I continued the quest. However I switched it on, to find me as a child again, to have to complete all the training again-why? How long do I have to play for until I don't start at this point again? And I definitely saved the game before I quit, so I don't understand why it has put me back here.

    It's complicated.

When in a quest the game makes a Hero Save, which saves all of your gold and experience etc, but doesnt save your actual progress. When not doing a quest it will have as a World Save, which saves your progress.

Nasically, if you want to save your progress then you must finish the quest you've started. It's a silly system, but that's just how it works.

You'll not be able to make a World Save until you graduate from the Heroes Guild. Shouldn't take too long. Half an hour at most I would say.

It's because that bit counts as a "quest" - you can't save your progress during a quest. It takes about 45 minutes/1 hour before that bit is over and you can save. You'll know when because, if you press start, it will say "World Save" which lets you save your progress/position etc

      Edit - beaten to it

Ok-graduated now, and saved for the night and it does indeed say world save. Now all I have to do is try and understand what the hell I do in the game, not having played an RPG like this before. Zelda has its dungeons and bosses to progress through the game, how does Fable work?

Maze pretty much guides you through the game, giving you quests which progress the story. Some quests you need to do to progress, some you don't. Which quests you choose to take is entirely up to you, but you have no choice but to take the ones that push the story forward.

You'll be told when you have a quest to do. Teleport to the Hereos' Guild and pick it up from there. Then you follow the map to start the quest or teleport there etc

Outside of quests it's there for you to play around Play bonus games, show off, get married, buy houses, upgrade weapons/armour etc

I actually only started Fable a few weeks ago myself. I'm now about 65% through it and I've really enjoyed it...and I don't normally enjoy real-time RPGs. It's a very good game, IMO
