Installing programs on a chipped Xbox with EvoX

How do I install additional programs on my Xbox and have them appear in the EvoX menus?

I've got a load of software on there preinstalled so I'm not after details on specific progs, but if I wanted to add another utility or Emu what would I need to do?

Just bung the program in a particular directory?

I think you need something like xISO to read the files. Tbh, it's quite a complex area for me, and I don't understand a lot of it

Try the tutorials on www.xbox-scene.com, which oughta help.

I've had a look at that site a good few times already. Looks like I'll have to sit down and have a proper good read.

I am thinking of installing another genesis Emu which Mezzanine kindly uploaded onto the web for me to download.

Gotta start learning sometime I suppose.

Once you download the source files, create a folder on your xbox E:/Apps/ or E:/Games (depending on what the program is) called ... (name of program) and copy all the files you downloaded into it. Reboot the xbox and voila! Your newly installed program is on the evox menu.

OK, so if I am installing an Emu I can just FTP in and create another directory next to xsnesx and MAME and stick the files in?

          Sounds good.

OK cheers Rab, I will try that.

What about sharing ROMs between two Emus, is that possible? I don't want to use up valuable HD space with duplicate genesis ROMs if I can help it.

No, each emu has its own roms folder which it looks to for roms. Surely you shouldnt need duplicates of your roms anyways, just use the emu that plays them best.

Just thought it would be easier that's all.

Thought it would be a good idea if it was just a simple process of editing an ini file or something and editing the 'look for ROMs' path to point to one shared folder.

But if not then no matter.

                  Cheers.

try altering the emu's ini file to search the particular folder where your roms are stored

its what i intend to do with both of the different mame apps out at the mo

Yeah that's what I was thinking of.

Can anyone confirm that this actually works though? Do save files still work?

I don't want to knacker my box.
