NTSC Game working on PAL PS2 HDD?

Is it possible to buy an NTSC game and load it onto your PAL PS2 HDD via your PC (ripping)? Has anybody tried this yet?

Just wondering, because it seems that games are released in the US much earlier than the UK.

yes it is possible if you use your PC DVD drive and winhiip - that's the (second) beauty of hdadvance - you can play all NTSC games on your UK pal PS2

Good stuff, thanks for replying so quickly. Don't suppose anyone knows a good site to buy PS2 games from the States which deliver to UK? Cheers

Videogamesplus.ca - link in the adverts above fairly regularly. Excellent service.

I have a problem in that my PC is so old and rusty that it can't handle drives of more than 40gb. Can Winhiip definitely transfer over ethernet? I couldn't find anything solid on that linked site.

                Help peeps!

I believe there is a way to get HD Loader (or is it HD Advance?) to boot from your memory card?

Anybody know of a guide (in English) to assist me?

                TIA!

Do you need network adapter to link it between PS2 and hard drive ? (Old one)

Easy one first, yep - you do need the network adapter for linking a hard drive up to the old PS2.

How to get it work from Memory card - it depends if you're PS2 is chipped already. If your console isn't chipped then you'll need to follow one of the exploit tutorials (http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=hdlfaq), this way when you boot your PS2 with your chosen PS1 game in, it will then boot HDLoader.

If your PS2 is chipped, depending on the chip then it may support booting from the memory card, you would need to boot something linke ExecFTP from a disc then transfer the necessary files to your memory card (this is what I did)

Aaah, so you always need some sort of disc in the drive?
(Was just trying to do away with discs altogether...)

If your PS2 is chipped and it supports it, then you can just boot directly from the card - with no disc at all

If it's not chipped and you're using an exploit then you will need a PS1 game in, but once it's booted I don't think it spins the disc anymore.

No idea if my chip supports it, prob. not, it's an old Messiah..

So can Messiah 2 support the hard drive even it doesn't support online gaming I believe.
