    Swapping Power board on PS2

    Hi all,

I've just bought a 1st edition Japanese PS2 which is broken. The power won't turn on.

Anyway, I think it is a problem with the power board, so would it be possible for me to put an early UK version power board on it?

If so, what UK version power boards would work on my 1st edition one?

I have done the same with my Japanese dreamcast, and it runs off the normal UK voltage.

    Please reply.

    Thanks,
    -Elliot

    Should work fine.

From what I gather, the PS2's v0-3 all use the same powerboard, as do the v4-7's, and v9+, region doesn't matter, so long as you have the relevent stepdowns if needed.
Must be said, I've not tried it myself though.

www.divineo.com sell powerboards, though they do not appear to have the earlier ones listed on their page though. Can't hurt to email...

EDIT - This site also seems to sell boards for v3's, and they are in ther UK. Dunno if they are suitable but... http://www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/de...php?cPath=3_64

      Hi,

      Thanks for your reply.

I'll check out that last website. I just got the PS2 for GT4, and have opened it up today. I've checked all of the fused on the main board, and they all appear to be ok. I checked the one's on the power board, and I believe 4 of them have blown. These one's are: D010, D003, R008 and R108.

I'll just buy a power board and see if it works.

      Thanks

      -Elliot

        Version 4 powerboard on a version 1,2 or 3 PS2?

        Hi,

Would a power board off a version 4 PS2 work on a version 1,2 or 3? I've just purchased a UK PS2, and I need to swap the power board out of it. It has the model number SCPH-30003. Am I right in thinking that this STILL couldn't be a version 3?

If it is a version 4, wouldn't the power board still work in a version 3?

Please reply if you know anything.

        Thanks,
        -Elliot
