Version 4 power board on version 1,2 or 3 PS2?

    Hi,

Would a power board off a version 4 PS2 work on a version 1,2 or 3? I've just purchased a UK PS2, and I need to swap the power board out of it. It has the model number SCPH-30003. Am I right in thinking that this STILL couldn't be a version 3?

If it is a version 4, wouldn't the power board still work in a version 3?

Please reply if you know anything.

    Thanks,
    -Elliot

If it has the code 30003, it's not a V4 - it's a V3. There is a slim chance, if it has the code 30003R, then it could be a late V4, but they are rare - almost all 30003R units are V5. If it is just a straight 30003, no R, then it's definitely a V3.

There are 4 types of powerboard for the full size PS2 console:

    V0 ~ V2 (SCPH 1000x, 1500x and 1800x machines)

    V3 (SCPH 3000x)

    V4 ~ V8 (SCPH 3000xR, 3500X, 3900x)

    V9 ~ V11 (SCPH 5000x)

None of them are interchangeable, but you can freely swap 110v boards with 220v and vice versa, as long as you have the right step down / up transformer.

    Will.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the reply.

He did say it was an SCPH-30003. He says it has 8 screws on the bottom, so doesn't this mean it's a version 4? I read somewhere that version 1,2 and 3 have 10 screws on the bottom, where-as the rest have 8.

If it is a version 4, I should be able to get the powerboard to fit in my version 1 jap console right? As long as there is the connector to the main board, and the pin connector to the mains, then I should be able to fit it wouldn't you say?

      Thanks,
      -Elliot

        Erm, no.

We're on the same page here about 'x' being any number you like, right?

A 30003 console is *not* a V4. If it is a V4, it will have the 3500x code, or 3000xR code. And even if it was, you cannot use the power board in your V1. You'll need the V0 ~ V2 style powerboard for your PS2. No other one will fit, or can be made to fit. Like I said, they are all completely uniterchangeable.

          Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to fix the console I have just bought then.

          Cheers,

No problem If you replace any fuses though, be sure to get high quality quickblow ones of the right values - PS2s are very delicate, and even a fraction of a second of a delay when a PSU fails before the fuse blows is enough to kill it

I've had a v3 in my hands recently and it had 10 screws on the bottom just for information here.
