TFT screen problems

hello

just got my new pc yesterday with a tft screen.

However after only really putting it on today...3 hrs later....the screen was going all streaky....going realy black.....then pure white.... is going on!

its a compaq 1501 TFT

Although I have no knowledge of TFT's, sorry. Would this not be better in 'Import & Technical Advice'?

What are you doing when the screen starts going streaky? Gaming? IE? Excel?

Is it away from direct sunlight and isn't being affected by mobile phones? speakers? radiators? that kinda thing (apologies if i'm being patronising).

Maybe try over at AV Forums.com, I imagine someone over there might have some advice, or be able to help.

Hope you sort it out. Me? I'll stick with trusty CRT.

coe to think of it... my mobile recieved a couple of texts and calls b4 it went all wierd.

plus the speakers were right next to it... ****...i hope it didnt cause any major damge!

plus i didnt realise i could post it there...so i slammed it here.

the speakers could be doing it if there not magnetically shielded. try moving them away if its not them then there could be a problem with it

My laptop's panel goes odd (like the effects you describe) if I change to a resolution or refresh that it can't cope with (which I've accidentally done when installing Linux).

Might be that, but I doubt it. Windows PnP is supposed to stop all that cack.

Prolly best take it back mate.
