Resi Evil 4 Freeloader problem. HELP!

    Hi everyone, I'm new here.

I have bought an NTSC version of Resi Evil 4, and have the latest version of Freeloader, 1.06B, but I am having problems when I try to play the game.

I do everything right. I load the Freeloader disc, then put in Resi Evil 4 like it says, and then the title screen of Resi Evil 4 loads so I thought "Yey! It works!", but when I select "NEW GAME" from the title screen, an error message is displayed saying something like "The disc cannot be read!". I have checked the disc for scratches, and it is absolutely fine.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a very early GameCube, I bought it when they were first released in the UK, so maybe it isn't compatible or something?

    Please Help!

    Thanks!

    Nick

Sounds like it is more a fault of the resident evil disc, bad pressing or something..... if your cube works with everything else I should imagine it would be ok

Yeah, I guess you may be right. It does seem funny that the game boots up all the way to the title screen, and works fine all the way up to that point.

I got it working once yesterday though! But then when I went to the typewriter to save, it said that "The disc cannot be read!" again.

I always have the worst luck with this kind of thing!

This probably isn't the problem, but you can try to press 'Z' on the freeloader screen and select the USA flag.

Let me know if you overcome this problem. I've just bought RE4 because it was confirmed to work with Freeloader...

well mine (USA version) works fine with Freeloader 1.06 (built into my Action Replay) on a PAL Cube.
Quite happy to "test" a disc for anyone having problems - PM me if interested.

And I just select Freeloader, don't even need to do the Z button region bit

Does the Freeloader software come built into the Action Replay cartridge then? I had a look at the AR carts when I was in the shop the other day because they were only a tenner, but there was no mention on the box...

res evil 4 works fine with v1.06b & B freeloader, confirmed by me!

1.04 i am not so sure, but i suspect it does, no need for Z button tricks either!!

Again, works fine every time with my Action Replay (Freeloader 1.06B) on a PAL 'Cube.

No need to do the Z region select... sounds as though the GC may have a dirty lens or it's a faulty disc.

My GC is a PAL launch model, btw.

Well, dodgy disc aside, I should be okay then. Just need to send my 1.0 Freeloader off to Datel for an update.

Don't think Datel do that anymore...

Best to pick Action Replay up at GAME for a tenner (you get a Datel 4 MB memory card chucked in as well).

I spoke to them and they said they'd do a disc swap for a fiver if I send the disc back and include my credit details. Not really too keen on doing that, so I might just grab the action replay. Not exactly hugely more expensive, when you take postage into account.

                        Hmmm.

It's a shame GAME aren't including that in their extra 20% off sale online, because it was only ?7.98 when I bought it instore...

No brainer, really Might still be worth trying instore...

I'll pop in this afternoon. I'm a dirty student so I'll grab some money off it anyway.

yeah buy one, bargain for a tenner, sure I paid over ?20 about 18 months ago.

And if it turns out that it is your GC that's faulty, then take the AR back to GAME for a refund
