    Gamecube component cable

    Hi all

I am trying to buy a Gamecube component cable, it seems that I have a choice of a official Nintendo one or a 3rd party one from Lik-Sang. Neither of these are currently in stock at Lik-Sank or Play-Asia, is there any difference between the two, also does anybody know of anywhere else I may be able to pick up a GC component lead.

Any help would be much appreciated...

    Thanks
    Dave.

The component cable from lik-sang is an official Nintendo one I believe.

I'm in the same boat as you as I've tried looking everywhere for somewhere that actually stocks and importantly, has it in stock.

Found a few places that sell it but have none in stock.

In the end I just ordered from lik-sang.

It's on back-order with stock coming in on the 5th Feb, so not long to go now.

      Thanks for the reply

Yeah, I was hoping to pick one up straight away, but it seems they are quite scarce. As you say Lik-Sang, seem to be the ones, any idea on their delivery times ?

        I have no idea mate.

This would be the first order I've placed with them.

I've heard delivery times of around 5 days and even up to a few weeks.

I suspect the longer delay would be purely down to customs.

I'm hoping that a simple cable would just go through without any problems but I really have no idea.

Thanks for the link Pacman. I have been trying to track down the component cables and it is a nightmare as most places are out of stock

EDIT:- Tronix are also out of stock ft:

Ordered from Lik-Sang and paid the extra ?12 for DHL (1-3 days delivery). Pricey, but I don't want to wait 14 days for it. Hopefully, I should get it sometime next week. As the cable is only $39 I am hoping we won't get hit by customs charges, no ?

Why did people wait so long to order these? I'd have ordered a set once I heard Nintendo was going to stop adding the digital out on the GC.

Makes not difference to me I ordered a set years ago even though I do not have a component TV yet, but as the boy scouts say "be prepared". 8)

You should ask a few of the Japanese residents if they can help you out.GC Component cables in Japan can be had for around 1000-2000 yen .( In fact I got mine for 1500).

The GC D-terminal cables are slightly more expensive though , and although pretty redundant in the UK if anyone wants one just give me a shout. Its of no use to me now as I dont have my imported Wega LCD.I think it can be used though to make a GC RGB cable though.

(cable taken already, no longer available)

                    Hello Luke_H

The reason I did not get one of these cables before is because I shelled out ?30-?40 on one of Saurians modified RGB cables, very happy I have been with it to I must add. I now have a plasma tv and although the picture using the RGB is quite good, it is not progresive scan, which should improve the picture quite a bit. As such I have now ordered the component cable, so that I can get the best picture possible. Especially for RE4

I am not sure how much you paid for your component cable, but I would buy myself a plasma/LCD/component TV to get some use out of it, or the Gamecube will be dead before you get to use it ?

I paid US$35 from Tronix, I currently use a modified RGB SCART (from a D-terminal) cable as well which was made by a friend for US$50. I am very happy with the image quality from that cable. I plan to get some type of progressive monitor but probably not a HDTV as I can't stand all the "enhencement" stuff these TVs do to the image so I plan to get an X-Select D4 and hook it up to a 19" VGA monitor. Don't worry about the GC dying, I have spares just for such an event.

I hope you get yourself a set soon and do not have to pay too much.

                      Cheers

                      Luke
