Hi there all
It's my first post here, and I've done my best searching the net here and elsewhere for answers to my questions (started a couple of hours ago!), but although there's loads of useful info, nothing really confirms what I'm after, so I was hoping somebody could help!
Basically, I'm moving to the US in July, and I would like to be able to play my PAL xbox games over there. After much reading, I think that the best solution for me would be to get a modded xbox to play both PAL/NTSC games (as I was thinking about doing so anyway).
I've been in contact with the guy at premodded.co.uk who has been helpful. He can sort out an xbox with xecutor 2, upgraded HDD, and a PSU switch from 110 to 240v, which should solve the power supply problem.
So, my question is really regarding how to get the best possible picture on a US TV, using my modded PAL xbox. I understand that they have different inputs in the US, with component being the best, but will a modded xbox with the dashboard set to NTSC actually output an NTSC image? If so, would I be able to use the US Xbox High Definition Pack (http://www.xbox.com/system/high+defi...talog=cat%2dus), plugged straight into my modded UK xbox, to output to a decent US TV?
In addition, will I be able to use my modded pal xbox to display other US display modes such as progressive scan/HDTV should I get the chance, or will this not be possible?
In addition, if anyone could point me to a FAQ regarding switching an internal PSU mod from 110 to 240v, that would be greatly appreciated. It does seem straightforward, but I'd hate to blunder in and cause damage!
And also, if anyone has any feedback on premodded.co.uk either via post or pm, that would be great, as I may be spending a hefty amount of cash with them!
Also, any other tips about going over to the US would really be appreciated - if there's an easier solution it would be good to hear about it!!
Cheers
Mike
Edit: Just got to page 5, looks like superstu has got prog scan working through a modded pal xbox, with the NTSC dash. If anyone could confirm though I'd be grateful.
