Singstar ps2 Help PLEASE!

I am a newbie here, mostly because I just came across this site. Thanks for having me here. I hope someone can help me with this problem.

I have a modded PS2, I'm in the US, but I can play all region games now. I didn't realize I would have a microphone problem. Thought it was only the headset so I bought a handheld Microphone today and that doesn't work either. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? What do I have to buy to play this game? I am so over Karaoke Revolution already. I would appreciate any help.

Oh, and if this post is completely innappropriate, I humbly apologize. I did check around a bit and I think I am ok though.

I thought Singstar only worked with its bespoke mics, unfortunately not any PS2 USB mike/headset?

I could be absolutely wrong, though.

There are two Singstar games. There is the original Singstar one which as far as I know only came with the microphones and then Singstar Party which could be purchased with or without them. Which game do you have?

The original Singstar was purchasable without mics too...

Yup, you need the official usb dongle adapter and the 2 mics that come with it.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I knew someone here could help a lass out. I have a bid going right now so I hope I win. I actually have both Singstar and Party but only one works right now. I hope to get a replacement for Party soon though. I need to play these. Anyone know of any place I can just buy mics, in case I don't win?

I saw the mic's on their own in a Sony shop (Berlin) so I assume they are available elsewhere.
