Importing an Ibook - anyone done it?

    Hey guys,

Im after a 12 inch Ibook, I see the prices are a LOT cheaper in the US, so was thinking of importing one over.

Has anyone done this before at all? If you have any advice on places to buy from etc, it would be very much appreciated!

    Yep I did
Although I got it over there.
They have a world wide warranty which is nice. But you will need to buy an international kit or else you'll void it. It's basically a few attachments for the power supply.

Well take a peek at the US price and turn it into pounds and compare that the the UK price. It's big enough...

I know a few guys who went to New York for the weekend and came back with a fully loaded Powerbook and STILL saved money!

Don't forget to add 8% sales tax on top if you buy it in NYC..

Anyhow if anyone is interested 12" ibook standard build :

          Us : $999 + 8% sales = $1078.92 = ?578

Uk : ?699. (or if you know a student ) ?657 with the edu discount.

So the only real saving is that you are saving the VAT cost.. so if you got stopped at customs then the prices even out (and you may of course get fined for trying to evade it) If the exchange starts to slide the wrong way then the savings will disappear pretty quick!

          Cheers

          Matt
