Japanese Dreamcasts - are they noisey

bought one of these on ebay as i couldnt be bother with the dc-x anymore

and its mega noisey when its loading up games

is it normal???

Noisier than a GC but quieter than an XB in my case.

Yeah, they're pretty noisey it has to be said. Never really bothered me, just makes the console sound more powerful.

There are different types of drives, One made by Yamaha and one by Samsung.

The Yamaha drive in my Japanese launch DC is incredibly quiet but the Sammy in my US cast is very aggressive.

I've gone through about 4 or 5 UK Dreamcasts. In my time, I've had both Yamaha and Samsung drives.
