Thought Id give this a go, the last management game I played was probably way back on the spectrum (unless you count that Excel footy manager game), so Im like whoa - these things are just so advanced now - i really dont know where the hell to start with it! Stat overload is my problem, Im sure loads of you guys are more familar with this game (or management sims) so could maybe gimme some advice on getting off to a winning start? I beat Lincoln City in my first match somehow, i dunno how, and now I am about to face the mighty Middlesboro. Please save me from the sack as manager of Watford!

Leave all the training to your backroom staff. Get some decent free transfers in asap. Use your knowledge of lower league football to sign good players. Get decent loan players from Premiership clubs, go through their reserves and try and get a loan for three months from a youngster who is worth a few million, they can usually do a job.
I always think of a way I like to play footy and build a team around that. So if you are playing big boot make sure your forwards can head the ball.
To be honest it really is just like real life. Also don't be tempted to change things around too much, like real life a solid team without too much turmoil plays better.
