Can someone do me a favour, Re tek-tips.com?

For some reason I am unable to access my tek-tips.com account, and cant create a new 1.

Sooo could someone post this query up there for me?
    In the server 2003 forum

Unless anyone here could help me

I need to set up a new GPO for some new call centre staff, i do not want them to have access to ANYTHING on the network, besides the web, a printer, word, outlook and a specially created folder on the HD. (what a cnut, eh?)

I do not want them to see the C: drive. When they log in, IE will open and there will be a shortcut to word, outlook and the z: drive but that is it.

I have done this on an RM managed network with 2003, and can do this on Linux no prob.

But how do i set up a GPO so i can just add users to it, as and when they are hired?

How can i put my cerrrraaaazzzy plans into operation?

    cheers

You can't add users to a GPO (GPOs can only be linked to containers not objects, you cannot link to the builtin containers either), but you can add users to an Organisational Unit (OU) then link the GPO to the OU.

What you want to do is achievable as i've done something like that at the school i'm currently at.

Its a doddle with RM Connect, but a bit tricky with vanilla 2003

Never seen RM connect but a work mates old school used it. I like group policies though (very sad), the ability to piss people of by locking down their desktops is fun

        i should get out more.

          No, I agree.

There are few things as satisfying as a Network Manager that seeing people endlessly try and copy things to their desktops or install new wallpapers.

I have become a facist in my old age, and besides writing to their Network My Docs and the Shared drive. My users can do nothing, NOTHING!

The result is 100% network and desktop uptime in 6 months
