Check your bios to see if theres a section titled "integrated peripherals" or something like it. There will almost deffinately be a section for enabling or disabling your onboard audio.
Seems strange that for a nforce 3 board your onboards being disable while a audigy is fitted. Never had that prob with my gigabyte nforce 3 250 ultra.

Have you checked the audio tab in control panel? does it only list the audigy? You could try posting a msge in either of the main hardware forums , like Hardocp..anandtech or pc perspective.

My advice though is to go through your bios with a fine tooth comb, check every sub catagory, i'm sure its there somewhere. Last resort would be to check with asus website to see if theres a bios update that list any audio probs that were fixed. But like i said....last resort m8.

Just looked at a couple a reviews for your board, and in one section it shows a bios screen pic. Theres a option called "audio codec enterface" and its in the same section as your ram timings. In the screen its listed with the option "auto"
You could check to see if there are other options available.

So far everything i've read indicates that audio can be enabled and disabled in the bios.

It worked! Thanks a lot man, it was indeed that audio codec interface. It is listed under chipset features, I never checked there because I didn't realise it was a part of that .

        Thanks again .
