Dumb SNES PSU question

I just need to make sure of something before anything gets blown up.

It's ok to use a power lead from a PAL SNES on an American SNES, right?

The American SNES uses a different power connector to the UK/JP machines - it won't fit.

Best way is to buy a cheap 9v psu from maplins for ?4.99 and the correct adapter for 89p.

Yeah, I was pondering that while pretending to do work today. Also, how about using a MD PSU? I don't like spending money
