recovering lost files

my mate installed windows xp on my computer and deleted my entire hard drive (including a 10 page article that has to be in for mond day) any ideas on if I can recover it?

All these tools cost money but their advantage is that they provide 'demo' copies that should at least give you an idea whether the data is recoverable before you give them your money.

**** man! You might have to google up "file undelete" there are quite a few free trial applications or freeware versions. Dont install any new software until you have completely given up looking for the file as you may overwrite it.

If you cant find it then, at some point you will just have to give up and re type it. Mabey give your self until 6pm today. Good luck.

I've found something, but when I try to open it in word it says cannot resolve this link this file may not be a short cut. any ideas?

Times ago I've obtained great results with a tool named Revival, or maybe Re-vival, the icon was a Eagle head. Unregistered version allowed to recover only three files at a time but it was very helpful. Unfortunately, now I'm unable to find its homepage.
