    Motherboard problem

Bought a 9700 pro off of overclockers and for some stupid reason bought an AGP card rather than a PCI one.

My motherboard has an expansion slot on the motherboard that looks like it might be the right one but no connectors.

My PC is a Dell Dimension 2400 P4 about a year old.

Is there any way of hooking this up and if not can I send it back.

Any help gratefully received whilst I bash my head against a wall in stupidity.

agreed, go with ebuyer.co.uk next time, don't try and force the card, google your PC model and get pic of motherboard and info on the expansion slots to see if it is a AGP port, don't know, can you get 9700 Pro PCI ??

          Just found this:-

An unfilled memory socket lets you shoehorn a full gigabyte of memory into the Dimension 2400, and with two of the three PCI slots available, you can at least make some card-based upgrades. The tragedy of this motherboard is that there's no AGP slot, which closes off the upgrade path for the woefully underpowered integrated Intel graphics subsystem.

Anyone want a brand new graphics card?

I bought one of those cards from them myself, good value for money It's a shame your pc is a Dell, otherwise you could have just bought a new motherboard for ?40-60 and be able to use all your old components with your new graphics card.

A friend of mine did exactly what you've just this week. With a Dell 2400.

Is your name Alistair by any chance?

To be honest, I wouldn't bother checking if it came down to it. I'd automatically assume that my computer had an AGP port in it. I mean, surely it's got to be the exception rather than the rule not to...

Yep, AGP sockets have been standard for years now, A bit of a cheap and cheeky shot by Dell really. I bet they sold it as 'fully upgradable' as well
