    Need Advice (TV Wise)

I've had a crappy portable for years now, and I want to get myself a Plasma. But haven't a clue what I'm looking for.

I'm thinking maybe's a Philips 32PF9986 or a Panasonic Viera, I'd ideally just like to spend upto ?2000 but I want something that will hopefully last (Future Proof).

I've tried researching but I'm drowning in a sea of information and getting nowhere fast. (Too-Many-Lookalike Syndrome).

Any recommendations - thanks in advance.

    Evening boss.

If, when you say future proof you mean high definition, you'll be pretty hard strung to get a good High Def panel for under ?2k. Pioneers, and the Panasonic Range are tipping that.

Also, the Vieras are great TVs, but there are better ones out there for the money. That'll give you a far better picture. This is what I have, and also nearly half of the people at www.avforums.com

After you add a stand, and what boards you want (say Component board for Consoles) You're looking at around ?1600.

If you were to pop on those forums, and go in the plasma section, i'm sure they'll be someone local on there who'll give you a demo. Once you see it you'll be blown away with the quality, and no other SD panel comes close to it. Give it 3 odd years, flog it and then get yourself a true High def Plasma or DLP.

    Regards
    Scott

Avoid Phillips plasmas...they're bloody nasty ft: tbh I think the worst image I've EVER seen on a big screen TV was a phillips plasma and that was after I'd calibrated it I won't even mention what it was like before I improved anything

Loads of digital noise, poor contrast, and some really poor judder make it almost unwatchable unless you're sat 9' away from the screen

Hi mate if you want something future roff under 2k then have a look at a dlp set. They give the kinda spec that would cost upwards of 4k in a plasma also bigger sets. I just snaged a 46" tosh dlp high def ready has vga hdmi componet three scarts svideo compostie and has a stonking picture for ?1500. It isnt that big either infact its lighter and seems less bulky than my crt tv i had.
