Bittorrent?

I'm a bit new to Bittorrent. Could someone explain to me what it is and how it differs from other p2p clients?

Also is there any software that you guys use to serach for and download bittorrent files themselves?

The main thing you have to be aware of with BT, is that with all the porn you can download, make sure you don't leave it on when your mum is around!

It's a good way of getting patches and demos without having to wait in server queues.

Does bittorrent have a reason beyond porn? I certainly don't see what else you'd want it for! How could you want more? I watch porn like eastenders now!

I don't use BT any more: too closely monitored and too awkward to make it relatively "safe".

what a load of old donkey nads all I could find was loads of news items about bit torrents ****ing over the entertainment industry and taking up stupid ammounts of internet bandwidth. While it does have its legit users i bet 90% of torrents are chav.

I use it now and then and my vote goes with bit tornado.

I use BT mainly for TV shows from the States - Survivor, The Amazing Race, ER, Enterprise, Smallville etc.


Also, the excellent Consolevania uses BT as its main distribution tool.

Yeah I use it for DVD rips of films, TV shows, anime fansubs, and music albums.

I mean, linux ISOs and film trailers. Yes. .

Yup, BT is warez city (when you know where to look).

But it's very useful for regular stuff and I use it to get TV shows mainly.

Didn't want to present the downside of BT from the off and this place is normally , publically, warez discussion free.
