    Are you sure?

Unless you want to switch to a different region again or get so desperate for memcard space you delete the file, you'll never need to dig the disc off the shelf again.
    So if I buy Region X in the UK it will make my PS2 slimline (that I bought while I was in Japan) play DVDs via RGB SCART without the green screen?

      Sorry, I've no idea if a Japanese PS2 will boot a UK DVD Region X. I've only ever loaded my UK DVD Region X once on my UK PS2, and I've been able to watch Region 1 films in RGB ever since.

      I wonder if it's a power-off thing, as I don't think I've tried since disconnecting the machine (why would I? It sits next to a multi-region Tosh)

        Datel region X

        The region X disc is region specific so don't bother buying a uk disc as it wont boot up. What you need is Datel Region X disc that is japan encoded, try LikSang they may have it...

          Thanks. I checked, they don't have any. Will keep cheking there.

          Anyone out there got experience with S-Video?

            Yeah I use s-video on pretty much all my consoles I think it looks sharper & colours richer, than RGB. RGB gives a softer perhaps more natural picture (colour vibrance more toned down).
            Anyway as far as I'm concerned s-video looks great for PS2 on my Sony 25"KV although I dont know if this would vary much on another TV.
            connection ratings the way I see it :

            Component=10
            RGB =9
            S-video=9
            Phonos=7
            RF=6.5
            ...

              Thanks for that.
              So my TV doesn't have an S-Video in but I have one of those s-Video - SCART adapters. Will that work OK?

                Depends - check your manual to see what inputs your SCART will understand. On my Panny, two connectors do, one doesn't.

                  Region X is I believe part of Action Replay 2 V2 (I'll check when I get home). I have the Japanese version of thet which I bought from Lik-sang. It does work with a slimline PS2 (I used the AR2V2 GT4 codes with it).

                  That ought to enable colour RGB for movies.

                  It does have Region X but is out of stock... typical.

                    Speaking of RGB cables, does anyone know if SONYs official EURO-AV SCART lead is RGB enabled?

                      Yes the euro lead is just the fancy name for an RGB scart cable here in Europe, but the problem does not lie with the cable, it lies with the macrovision that is present in the ps2.The macrovision can be disabled quite easily if you know what you are doing, i disabled it in my ps2 scph 10000 near enough the day i got it.Also th Sony cable costs a fortune and really is no better than one that costs 2 quid, it does have the Sony name on it though so this may swing it for you.

                        Ive just been stung by this also - I bought a bunch of DVDs to watch in my hotel on my US Slimline PS2, bought a RGB cable for 15 quid from Game, and whilst games work ok I get a green screen for DVD. Bloody annoying that, and it looks like my only option is to find a Datel Region X disc to watch DVD on the move ://

                          no mate s-video is AS good for a lack of interferance but rgb is sharper, colours are richer and fine detail is improved.

                            OK, I've just received a slimline Japanese/Asian PS2, and I get the green screen when trying to play games. I have it connected with an RGB SCART. Is there a way to stop this green-ness?

                              Boot up the PS2 without a game and navigate through the System Configuration menu until you get to Component Video Out. Change this from Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr to RGB.
