Rage Racer - all golds?

I've decided to revisit all the PSX Ridge games, after having had a crack on Ridge Racers over the weekend and not being able to half inch it off my PSP-owning mate. Wiped all the saved games, playing over from scratch.

So the question is, is there any point in getting all gold trophies in Rage? I never managed it originally and I'm just wondering if it opens anything up. Other than the gold title screen and sense of satisfaction.

Another couple of Ridge-themed questions that I might as well ask here. First up, is the neGcon actually usable? It's always looked like the least natural controller in the world. Secondly, PAL RRV - how bad a conversion is it, honestly?

It's been a while, but IIRC you can unlock all the (harder) reverse tracks by getting all golds in the normal courses.
Can't remember what happens if you get all golds in the reverse courses though - maybe nothing.

I've got a NeGcon, it takes quite a bit of getting used to IMO. I normally don't use it.

PAL RRV - shockingly huge borders. I seem to remember reading that there was a benefit of owning the PAL version of the game though, perhaps improved AI or something.

Tried it, David - I always have a look there before I ask something here. Useless as the boards are, the guides are normally decent.

Not for older games, though. There's one Rage FAQ and it's unfinished.
