RGB/component HELP! for the neo-geo aes

    hi all,

I was reading about a few modifications available for the neo geo aes cart system.

now i have just received a cart system which is great, but the rgb picture looks very grainy and has awful vertical bars on the screen when playing.

i wanted to know if anyone could
1, mod my system for me so i can get s-video/rgb/component video with no defects

    or........
2, send me some system diagrams so i can do the mod myself(and advise me where to get the parts in this country).

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi. this might interest you (mentions stripy rgb):

you can look at your serial number and determine what the issue is. i'm assuming that there would be no way around the rgb problem if it's to do with the serial numbers...

my aes system is in the 330,000 range so its one of the last models.

ravengames do a RGB conversion for ?75 but to me thats criminal money for such a simple mod(or so i hear)

      PLEASE HELP!!!

i can't seem to find the rgb mod anywhere...

...no wait i found this on the neo-geo.com forum:

"It's a little complicated but not too bad if you have decent soldiering skills. First, find the spec sheet for the sony CXA chip, then trace back the R,G and B "in" from the chip (on the circuit board) to three 680k resistors, tap the signal before these. Then you have to cut the original RGB signal that comes from the "RGB out" on the CXA, before it reaches the AV port. There are 4 "jumper" wires right before the AV port that you can simply desoldier, then connect the pure RGB signal in their place (the 4th is for sync). If you need to find out what trace carries what signal, just trace it from the CXA, which you have the schematic for. For the sync just tap it by soldiering a wire to the "sync in" leg on the CXA, then connect it to that 4th jumper wire."

thing is, the general gist on that forum is that the neogeo's can 'do' rgb, you just need to make a scart lead that connects to the rgb pins on the machine and hey presto. but what i'm not sure about is whether the above mod cleans up the image or not. maybe it does

ok, .....................................can anyone mod this machine for me

it sound complicated, but its pretty simple when you get printed diagrams of what needs doing. i havent modded anything myself since the series 9 playstation days(i had imagined the neo being easier to deal with )so i dont want to risk trying anything without the proper circuit diagrams.

just let me know how much and how long it would take.

Erm to be honest you may be better off posting on neo-geo.com as the people there know the neo inside out and im sure some one would be happy to do it for a lot less than the pint of blood( 70 quid wtf ) raven want
