    Cube broadband LAN

So with Mario Kart DD and now supposedly SMB3 having the "connect to another Cube for 8 player fun" option... besides having a BB adapter for the Cube, what else would I need to be able to run 2 Cubes together? Just a lead? Or is it a case of waiting to find out how it works first?

Wait just 10 hours and Nintendo should be letting you know in their press conference. Then wait 2 weeks after the launch of a LAN based game and certain web sources should be able to rip into it and let us all know if you can link for more than 8 player fun or play via the web etc.

A cross over cable I'd assume...

Yeah, there will likely be some sort of software like Xbox connect to allow net play.

This is what I was figuring

So just a crossover cable huh? I seriously doubt I'll go online with the Cube but there are plenty of people I know with Cubes that would want to play the game in linkup 8)

Next thing to figure out... connecting a PAL Cube to an NTSC one

Technically that's all that should be needed, but you never know if Nintendo will introduce a 'special' (read: rip off) link cable forcing us to buy from them.

Nah, the BBA is just bog standard ethernet. A crossover cable or hub/switch will be all thats needed.

The problem will be software compatibility, not hardware.

                    Agreed.

                    Was just speculation.

My thought also... I'd imagine if people have PAL cubes they'd have Freeloader/AR to play the US version or something too

Chances are Merio Kart Double Dash won't work with Freeloader anyways...

Pity that for the moment they are just concentrating on the 8-player/2GC setup.

if they expanded it to be 4 players+ each on separate machines the whole VPN tunnelling online play option would be much more interesting.

Thats what I feel will happen. I'm in the same position as Mayhem, having an ntsc and pal cube
