Marvel vs Capcom 2 Jap DC

Hello all - I have this game and was wondering whether anyone can email me a faq or suchlike - not for the moves as I can work those out OK, but with regard to how to unlock all of the extra characters. I know that you win points to unlock some of the characters, and have unlocked 7 so far, but just read something which alarmingly suggested I may need some sort of hacked VMU, on account of the fact that the original release had some system where you swap VMU data with other gamers, or plug the VMU into an arcade cabinet. The crazy jap instructions aren't helping me at all! At work I cannot access the usual sites like gamefaqs, therefore I need it in word. If someone can oblige then I would be most grateful.

I dunno about the VMU bit, i had the PAL DC version and unlocked all the characters with Arcade Mode points. I'll have a look over at Gamefaqs to see if it's the same for the JPN version.

Can't see anything about it, other than the well-known tip off exiting and reentering the shop to make the characters cost less.

No can do on gamefaqs - my works PC won't entertain any of the gaming sites for some reason - won't even let me read NTSC reviews.

It's true I'm afraid - unless you hack the VMU file (which requires some kind of PC interface card) you won't be able to get all the characters. This is because there are three different types of 'points' used to unlock items. The first type are earned by playing the game solo, the second by playing the game online and the third type can only be earned by playing on the arcade version and saving your score to your VMU. Some characters can only be unlocked with online/arcade points.

A nice idea in practice, and probably a bit ahead of its time, but for import gamers It's a real pisser TBH. The PAL version removed all this.

I've got the J-version almost purely for the artwork... it's worth keeping, imho.

How do I download a VMU save? Does that involve going online with my DC? never done that before, you see.

Yep, or transfering a save over to a VMU via PC.

Or (desperation city) buying a VMU off eBay with the saves already on...

Not wishing to visit desperation city, can anyone tell me, in idiot-speak, how exactly I would do this? Failing that, I can see a "wanted" thread on the horizon....

Will still have to advertise for something though - as that card won't work with my PC. Bollocks.
