    Messed up screen size

I get home to find my home computer monitor is all stretched sidewards, and the simple change of resolution or changing the screen settings with the buttons on the monitor don't work.

Anyone have any ideas of what it could be and how I could fix it?

    Thanks.

set your display setting back to standard res.

Control Panel, Display, Settings, Screen Size.

    Set to either 640*480, 800*600, 1024*768, 1280*1024.

    Should do the trick

Have you tried changing the refresh rate also?

sounds like buttons on front of monitor have been tampered with tbh, when you press them don't they work or they work but just don't adjust the image ?

The front buttons don't change anything much. And my other screen is at university

When I have Firefox or anything opened, the side of the application is all bent, not straight. It like a slight trampezium effect. I've never seen this before, probably my Dad hit some odd button and has messed it up...

Definately sounds like someones been messing with the settings via the buttons on the front. Have you tried opening up the monitor's menu and stepping through each setting to see what they do? Should work.

Some crappy AV2-Shinho. I have never heard of make before, but it does job when at home.

                      FA on the internet.

You will just have to use the front buttons.

When you press them, do any produce an on screen display or do they have wee lights about the buttons?

of course the monitor may have suffered some kind of electrical failure to cause this.

                          or...

someones changed the refresh rate or something - i find my monitor saves the screen settings for a specific res AND rate, so if i'm running 1024x768@85Hz, if the rate gets changed to 60Hz (as is the case when using directx games if you don't force the refresh) then i have to readjust the settings...
