Can anyone confirm if this for Real?

Searching through eBay I saw this, basically some guy thinks he know a code that will let an early model PS2 play imports...any one know if there is any truth in this? (ohh & most people already know the code for multi region DVD films)

First i've heard of it tbh, but it's worded very specifically. Why not just bust out the ?2 and find out? or how about we go halves, i'll chip in a quid

      Scam scam scam.

It's absolute crap... if such a code existed, we'd all know about it, and where on earth would you input this code? Some kind of joypad input on a menu screen?

      No way.

The person does have a pretty good Ebay rating. I suppose you just have to make sure you have a Version 1 PS2.

You gotta wonder why most of the auctions he's done are for clothing, and then this one is for something that smells very much like a rancid scam. I wouldn't be surprised if their eBay ID had been hijacked.

Edit: Plus 1p for an email?!?!

There's a code that lets early model JPN PS2's play import DVD's. That's all this is. It's a joypad input on start-up.

There is no code to let you play import games. At all.

How funny would it be if there was such a code

(Not that I'm expecting this to be anything else but a scam)

It makes no sense to build a method to circumvent regional encoding into your console, and then sue the pants off people providing it a different way. And yes, I know chips allow you to play ripped off pirate copies, but that's only because they build their consoles that way in the first place.

Yeah, I remember this, on the 10000 series PS2s you could hold R1 and X or something at boot up and it'd unlock the DVD player to any region. Nothing to do with games though.

Mind you, those ones were ****ed anyway, you had to save the DVD player data onto your memory card, but if you then saved RRV data it ****ed up the DVD player save . And THAT'S why Sony bundled memory cards with the 10000 series.

Most logical explanation to me, given the seller has a high rating, is that the seller was told the so-called 'code', but never tried it.

This would be big news to the entire PS2 mod scene if it existed, including expert coders... I severely doubt a code for running import games exists.

What you get is basically the DVD player region unlock code, what a foolish seller...have asked him to refund since the description is completly inaccurate.
