Nah, it's extremely laggy really. It relies on a decent upstream bandwidth on both sides. It's playable against anyone else in the UK, maybe even this side of Europe... but no-chance against anyone else.
It's not as smooth as Live, or even XBConnect. It must be something to do with the code in GC LAN titles, because XLink Kai has the same problem.
It's still great fun though, and online MKDD rocks. Just be prepared to put up with the inevitable problems.
