floating '?' boxes in Mario 64 DS

This is from a friend of mine, any help much appreciated

"If you know anyone who has Mario 64 on DS, can you ask them where the '?' squares are in the castle. I keep finding all these floating '?' boxes, but
I can't break them until I find the floor markings to activate them. I'm
sure they must be dotted about all over the place, but I'm new to this
Nintendo world (i.e. I'm sh*t)".

The red blocks are activated in the same way as before; get at least 12 (I think) stars and then look to the ceiling in the main lobby. You'll be taken to a flying section with the red block switch to buttslam.

"Cheers man! I've got 19 stars, and I did notice that this big light had
turned up in the main lobby. But when I stood in it and pressed the button
it came up with some text but then didn't do anything. I'll have to
re-investigate at lunch... yeah! you know that DS follows me wherever I go!"
