"Game" branded GC RGB cable - true RGB?

Does anyone have the Gamecube RGB cable sold in "Game" stores?

I've bought a Blaze cable purporting to be RGB before and it was composite only (I opened it up and checked). I just want to ensure that it's a true RGB output as I've got Resi 4 and it looks pants in composite.

    Any help is appreciated.

    John.

    I did - it's not RGB.

I bought about 4 cables before I decided to go for it and get a Nintendo branded one. 3rd party GC RGB cables are *wank*. Because hardly any of them are RGB.

Is there an easy way to tell if a cable is outputting RGB rather than composite, without me having to take apart the connector and check the pin configuration?

        Nope

Best bet is to find an official one. I found mine for ?3 in the second hand section of a local Chips store.

Or go to Blockbuster, they're ?4.99 there. If the price is any higher ask at the desk, is it ?4.99 on the system.

I got a Game GC RGB cable close to the GC launch and I'm sure its a RGB cable. Gives a much better picture than the composite, even had "RGB wired" on the box

I bought this cable over the weekend - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...999884-2978831

It's actually RGB, and only 1.27! I was a tad sceptical because it has that AV block half way down the lead, but it's definately RGB.

Mine said exactly the same thing, and I'm positive it wasn't RGB. Unless I had a duff one. :P

I got mine off ebay for ?3/4 and it was RGB - it mentioned it specifically in the auction too.

How can something advertise as RGB, and not actually be RGB? That's just stupid!

Indeed, but it happens. I've seen more than a few so-called 'RGB' cables that blatently were not RGB.

well, the RGB lines may have been connected but the thing isn't sending enough voltage to the special pin that tells the telly it's an RGB cable. check out mmmonkey.co.uk he has a guide to sorting that out. i bought a gamecube rgb scart from cex for ?6.99 a while back (i can't remember the name) and it was fine. same goes for the one i got from consoleplus.co.uk for ?2 or so. depends on your telly really...

btw to check if your picture is RGB, just look at it. composite picture is a bit fuzzy around the edges whereas RGB isn't. also the colours are much richer with RGB. If you've got a ps2 with an rgb scart, play a dvd and see if it's green screen (unless it's modded that is) - this will indicate that the scart is rgb and you can then get used to the picture differences

                          Indeed, it's quite a difference.
