Best PS2 modchip? -- (Not asking where to get them)

Hi - I was wondering what is the best modchip to get? Just to point out, I'm not asking where to get them, or anything like that.

I know of the MatrixInfinity, Ghost and DM4 No Solder chip which is the best one to get? I'm specifically looking at getting a pre-modded console, so not too bothered about how easy/hard it is to install.

    Thank you

There's not much to choose between them nowerdays, all the higher end mods have mostly the same features.

The DMS4 Pro (the Pro edition specifically) has ToxicOS, which essentially has all the features needed to load games from HDD. If you plan to use a HDD in your PS2, go for this.

      Thanks for a swift reply

The DMS4 Lite has the same features as Pro, minus the HDD loading ability?

Yep. Baically the Lite has a smaller bios flash size than the Pro, so you can't use ToxicOS. Other than that, it's identical.

I use a DMS4 EZI Pro, one of the solderless range, and it's never failed me.

How does the Ripper chip stand out next to the DMS4 and Matrix Infinity?

Possesses pretty much the same features as the Infinity and DMS4 Lite.
The high end mods are pretty much the same, feature-wise... bar the DS4 Pro which is a cut above them.

It must also be said that the DMS4 is the only mod to read DVD+R DL discs... if you go for 'backups' that is.

No, it clips directly onto the chips on the PS2 motherboard.

Ah so that picture is a pic of a Gold PS2 with the DMS4 attach to the PS2 chips?? Thought that was the who DMS4, the colour of the PS2 confused me. So the PS2 goes back together with out even noticing the DMS4 is fitted??

Yeah. You can't tell mine is modded from the outside.

Was it hard to fit, i know theres no soldering involved, but how long did it take to put it all together

Well, yes and no. The installation process was rather straightforward, it doesn't take a genius to work out what to do.

However, just because it's solderless, it doesn't mean it's easy. There's very little margin for error, and you have to be prepared to put full attention, care, time and effort into it, or you can easily mess it up and break your machine.

It's not hard as such, but don't let the fact that it's solderless fool you into thinking it's for 'n00bs'. Remember your attaching clips directly onto the chips in your PS2!

That said, if I can do it, most people on this board can do it.

I heard some mod-shop say that the LASERFIXII, DIODEFIX and NEOFIX don't work with the PS2Two (slimline).
Is that the case? Or is he just trying to pull customers?

And oh yeah, does the Ripper mod chip also has an homepage?
