What Screen Resolution Do You View Your Desktop On

Since using the workstations at college, and playing around with the resolutions on my new 17" TFT, 1024x768 as a desktop resolution seems too low, but I can't settle on what resolution to go up to. Which is actually the next resolution up maintaining the traditional 640x480/800x600/1024x768 aspect ratio? And what does everyone here favour?

Everything else is simply too blocky.

1280X1024 on my LCD. Native resolution is always the best.

1600X1200 on my CRT and 1200 x 1024 on my TFT... dual monitor setup at the mo at work. at home I'm stuck with 1024x768 till I upgrade my monitor!

nope, tis fine at 100hz everything is readable stable and fine...

What's the deal with the monged up aspect ratio on 17" TFTs anyway? Why isn't it 1280x960 (4:3)?

Because 17" TFTs are roughly the size of 19" CRTs, due to the difference in monitor size.

1280x1024 which is the native resolution of my 19" TFT. It's a nice size to res ratio.
