    Xbox RGB...

Does anyone else get poor picture quality from the earlier batch of Xbox's through RGB?

Most 3944 revision machines give a very bad RGB image - the first Xbox I bought did too (3944)

The PAL revisions have always been better but they are still inferior to the PS2, Gamecube, DC, MD etc - the newer LTD Edition PAL machines seem to be improved further from what I have seen but still not on DC standard.

Xbox is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get inside. I'm happy with the RGB image from mine personally. It's a shame it's not on par with the GC/DC but it's far from ****.

Whenever I wack one of my few Xbox games I'm like..the graphics are are heavy. Whenever I put in one of my Cube games I'm like...WHY IS EVERYTHING LOOKING SO GOD DAMN CRISP !! I'm not usually about the graphics, more the art work, but Cube and Dreamcast RGB crispness gets me all the time, I LOVE it!

Infact I bought an RGB scart cable in the UK yesterday to put into my NTSC Gamecube and it dosent work, go to the RGB AV channel on my telly and I get no picture, on the NON-RGB AV channel I get a picture. Is that something to do the cable?, do I need to buy an NTSC RGB Gamecube cable from say Liksnag or something??

The NTSC Gamecube does not output RGB

I sell modified D Terminal Cables for this job - they are ?45. They take the digital out and convert it to RGB, the image is wicked.

The Lik-Sang one is not a true RGB cable - it takes the composite out and converts it to a VERY dirty RGB image (it's worse than composite)

Does the PAL Gamecube output RGB?

BTW, Email has been sent also about the cable(s)

Yes it does. They dont use RGB in the USA so they have not included it in the NTSC model.

How can i tell which Xbox revision i have? (i.e which part of the label do i need to look at?) Mine was manufactured in Jan 2002 if that means anything.

Saurian: Is there anything you modding experts can do to improve the picture on the Xbox? My main issue is the GODDAMN wavy line interference from the Xbox, compounded by the dull picture.

Bruv I know this doesnt help but I had to sell my original USA machine and get a PAL revison as certain games (esp JSRF) were unplayable cos the picture from mine was so dark!

I'll PM you some things to consider.
