    Ridge Racers

I'm sure this has been asked, but I can't find it...

I assume people have actually tried this first hand? I mean, I know we all assume this and all, but...

Tried it on Kai over the weekend.

Everyone in the arena (with US copies) was joining the host no worries, but my Japanese copy just wasn't joining or recognising hosted games at all.

IGN tried it with Need For Speed Underground,I believe, and it didn't work for them either (cross-language wi-fi-ing)

Those with import game systems seem to have little to worry about on this front, as WiFi connectivity is handled inside the games and works cross-import as well, while memory saves can hold both import and domestic versions of game saves (you cannot, however, use import saves with American games, nor can you link wirelessly with the Japanese version of a NA game -- changes to the game make the those features incompatible.)

there is/was another article that dealt with this issue more specifically on IGN.com but I haven't been able to find it back.

So you won't be able to play VS Japanese Folk like say, Phantasy Star Online?

It depends on the game I think - with RRacers they made changes before the US version launched so there are code differences between them - I'd imagine going forward more and more games will have single releases i.e Jap & US games will be the same code possibly with a language option - This will allow us to play wi-fi with whatever version !

I don't see why it shouldn't though I have no evidence that it will...but my guess is that it will work perfectly once the jap one is updated to firmware v1.5

                      Don't worry about it.

You can get around it by sharing the same UMD.

If one of you has The RR JP and one has the US RR, boot one up and host the race, give the UMD to your mate (select NO when the exit game prompt comes up). Boot up on second psp and search for the race. It will find it and add you.

Then the disk needs to go back to teh Host after he has pressed start. Will load to the race and then there maybe one more change involved.

Used this technique this morning. Wasn't too much hassle to be honest. At least we got to play without having to trade in one of the Japanese copies for a US one.
