PSP on Xlink Kai - HELP!!

Yes, I know there's a help forum on Xlink but it sucks from my experience so maybe I'll have more luck here.

First off, I followed every step on the set up guide: Got my PSP on Ad-hoc channel 1 (not that I'm sure that matters), opened the required port on my router, have one of the wi-fi usb adapters thats supposedly ok (D Link DWL-G122), hardwired my wi-fi router to the pc, blah blah blah.

So my PC "sees" my PSP. It shows as one of the "wireless networks" as it should. When I start Kai it does say I'm "Network Reachable" so no port probs I dont think.
However, Kai does NOT "see" my PSP. Says "No consoles have been detected yet".
I followed the correct startup procedure (wi-fi on, load rr, host, start Kai) and everything so...........

    Any suggestions????

How come over 3 times more people read the "Ignore me" thread in off topic than have read this?!
I know some of you have been playing on Xlink, did anyone have a similar problem and fix it?

from what i've read on the Xlink forum it seems like the dwl-g122 is simply incompatible. it's pretty easy to confuse it with the dwl-122 though, which is supposedly quite compatible...

using incompatible wifi devices usually results in exactly the problem you're describing, so i'm afraid that's what's wrong.

      good luck with it...

Yeah, it seems very fussy on which wifi cards it works on.
Mine is one that doesn't work too.

Is there any list of compatibility?

Not really, just some posts in their forums with people saying "My card worked, its a XXXX" & "Mine didn't work, it's a Netgear MA401".

Firstly, please take the following into consideration. Your wireless network card may detect your PSP, but you STILL might not be able to play. The following list is a guide of what our users have used and confirmed working on THEIR home network - no guarantees are given it will work on yours, and there may be issues with different revisions of the cards.

Bugger, I'm sure the "G" wasnt listed when I last read it tho......

Ah well, hopefully a Kai update in the not too distant may resolve it.

as you can read on the Kai forums (and especially in the compatibility?s thread) it's not a limitation of the Kai software but rather from your device. So you can actually assume that the DWL-g122 will never be supported by Kai. The problem is likely to be caused that the DWL-g122 has a different chipset opposed to the DWL-122.

What about all in one wireless router/modem combinations?

I was thinking about buying a Netgear DG834G - would this let me play the PSP online?

I know the answer to your question but you really should put in that tiny little bit of effort in finding stuff out for yourself, it's not so difficult! I even provided the link where you could go and read the thread or use the search option of the forum...

XLink Kai doesn't work with a regular wireless router, you have to connect the PSP directly to a PC in ad-hock mode. An all in one wifi router should work fine for games that have online modes built in.

A much more helpful answer there Unlighty!! Correct too.

I dont think I'm techy minded enough to understand why I can get a network update from my wi-fi but not play ad-hoc. All I do know is, it sucks
