I have already posted this up on Rllmuk but thought you experts might have an idea or two.
Have a Jap PSP. Was playing wipeout on it when it froze. Rebooted but froze on the game loading screen. From that point on if I boot with no UMD in it got to the menu screen and froze when I moved the icon and if I booted with a UMD in it sometimes got to the PSP loading screen or sometimes got to the game loading screen before it froze. Each time it froze the unit switched off after about 10 seconds.
Now it has gotten worse. When I switch it on the power light comes on but the screen doesnt, nor does the UMD drive fire up. Again the unit then turns itself off after 10 seconds. Have tried everything including removing battery, memory card, leaving it for a few hours, facing due north whilst standing on one leg. Nothing works. Occasionally if I hold all the buttons and switch it on it gives some coloured lines on the screen but thats it. Basically it is a geeky paperweight at the moment.
Returning to point of sale is not an option. I have mailed Sony customer services in the US and await their response but I dont suppose they will be too helpful.
Its a long shot but Just wondered if anyone here might have any ideas.
