    Tips For Selling On Ebay?

I’m looking to offload some stuff (PAL) through Ebay to raise funds for a venture into the Japanese import world (Ideally, I want to be bombarding will2003 and Tokuda with orders ). Please share any tips you recommend to get a good sale in Ebay such as what to write, what day/time I should start the auction and what to avoid etc. Horror stories? Wild successes? Recommend Nochex/Paypal? Sell within UK only or do you get much better deals if you include the rest of the world? Anything else?

    Thanks in advance!

Why dont you ist the stuff in the forum first, the sale will probably be quicker.

AS for ebay, always supply pictures, they always get the buyer confidence up, reslting in more cash

      Always include a photo.

Be honest when describing the condition (If i can see a mark on something described as Mint then i move on straightaway.)

When writing the description i will always try to sound truthful and knowledgable about the game etc. I always prefer to buy stuff from a fellow gamer. If i'm after something for the collection i'd have alot more respect and hence be more likely to be buy if the seller was truthful about the game (ie none of this R@RE TOP GAME bollocks when descibing something very average)

I always try to finish the auction on a Sunday evening. More people use Ebay at weekend and so you've got more chance of catching a potential punter at the end of an auction (when the most bidding is done)

      Hope this helps.

I cant remember the last time there was a dodgy trade round these parts.

Trade here first then offload the rest on Ebay/Loot

I would always start the auction so it ends at around 9.00pm on a sunday or on a tuesday, wednesday.
midweek people tend to stay in a bot more.

and as said above be honest and show pics.

I always put a fair BUY IT NOW price on it, yeah you may get more, but, put a price on that you are happy with and that is fair and people will probably buy.

when I want something I generaly want it straight away, and I bet most people are the same, I dont want to wait another 5 days till the end of the auction if there is another one for sale on there with BUY IT NOW , may as well use the BUY IT NOW and know it is mine.

down load an app called ebay builder, it will make your auction look so much better and show that you have taken your time and care about what you are selling.

this is the last thing I sold this week

          LINK HERE

I havent sold many things on there as I cant be arsed to put anything on there under ?75 as it isnt worth the hassle to me, getting it all packed up etc.

But I have sold everything I have put on there with only a few feedbacks and they all ended with BUY IT NOW when I put it on.
          good luck

but, do try on here first as everyone on here I have traded with have been excellent.

I replaied to this topic on RllMuk as well but here goes.

I have been using ebay for 3 years and have sold over 200 games/ consoles etc etc 8)

I always list stuff at under ?4.99 (so it only costs 15p for the listing).

Always list so the auction finishes in the early evening that way more people are on line (in theory) best finishing time is Sunday afternoon/evening I have found.

Dont end the auction early if someone makes you a private offer, wait until they have payed you and its in the bank before ending the auction.

I find that I get more for my auctions now I have a very good feedback rating (nearly 300) so it would help to borrow someones ID who has a lot of good feedback, that way bidders feel confident they wont be 'stiffed'.

Pictures will also add to the value even if they are not the actual thing you are selling, the 1st pic is free so do a search on the net if you dont have a digi camera and just put a disclaimer in the listing 'picture shown not the actual item for sale'

            Hope that lot helps.

As the other chaps have said try selling on here 1st I have nothing but praise for every deal I have done on here.

This is the last thing I sold on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...012788002&rd=1

Don't be scared to put a generous "Buy Now" price. It worked for me!

Plenty of pictures and good descriptions so people know you know your stuff, obviously good feedback helps that as well.
Not so important for small items - I never bother with details for stuff like videos - on a console though I will get really long winded and provide everything people need to know - I've gotten prices way over the odds on consoles I've sold because I've been thorough with descriptions - assuring people I know exactly what I have on sale and re-assuring those who are maybe not 100% sure about the item.

Offer to answer any questions by email, know shipping costs in advance.

Avoid paypal - its too expensive for receving payment.- nochex is good though

For video games good to sell within Europe - its not too expensive to ship there - its not very likely people in USA/Australia will want to pay high shipping to get your stuff - I find French collectors to be very enthusiastic and always willing to part with cash

                  Many thanks, appreciated guys!

                  Ok, so:
                  - Include pictures
                  - Honesty
                  - Sound knowledgable
                  - End Sunday evening
                  - Offer to answer questions
                  - Start off with a cheap price so that it only costs 15p. I have a question here: if you list it at under ?4.99 but you have a reserve price, does it still cost 15p?
                  - Include "Buy It Now" - I must admit the lure of a higher bid is making me hesitant to put one.
                  - Sell to Europe. Apart from a visit to your post office, is there any way to find out shipping costs (eg for software)? Naive question time - should I then go to ebay.co.uk or .com or does it make a difference ?
                  - Have a good feedback - well it's going to be my first time selling.
                  - Paypal and Nochex. Is it really wise to exclude Paypal (a lot of sellers seem to accept that method)?. Nochex - free? Oh and shoud I include the email addresses in the item description page or just post it out to the winning bidder?

www.royalmail.com you can find out prices for all airmail shipping

Paypal costs you 20p for every ?'s payment you receive + 3.4% of the amount + 50p to withdraw to your bank account - I let people use it only if they are willing to pay an extra 3.5% to cover the costs.
Paypal is good for people abroad - sneak the paypal fee into the shipping cost.
nochex is more reasonable - cost you 99p or 1.5% of the amount to withdraw to your bank account.
dunno if ebay.com will let u register from the uk but it would be pointless because all your auctions would be in $
Probably worth listing stuff here before ebay - no fees and less hassle if you sell on here then ebay as a backup.
You pay a certain fee for using a reserve price - if that reserve price is met that fee is refunded.

I really wouldnt count Paypal out.

I know that if somthing comes up that I really want and I havent got the spare cash, that I can use my credit card via paypal and it gives me a few weeks to raise funds before my bill arrives, and that is worth 3.5% to me. And I am sure alot of people are the same.

                        Thanks again

Should I include the email addresses in the item description page or just post it out to the winning bidder?

And would this guy be a definite fraud? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...category=11328

I have now got eBay builder (thanks gIzzE!) and have come across some other auction programs like Auction Sentry. What do you think of it? What if more than 1 person are using it for the same item?
