How is the GameCube?

I convinced my mate to buy the ltd. edition PAL cube with Resi 4 and Prime 2 for ?100.

That's the best ?100 spent on games I can think of. Not so long since both those games would have been ?50, meaning the console comes free.

My other non-cube owning friends are too busy buying DSs. WHY when you can have all this powahH!! with two of the best games this generation? Plus tons more for ?10-?20???

I mean, DSs aren't ****. But I'd much rather have a cube with some 'proper' games.

Man, you guys need to stop thinking about Prime 1 and move onto Prime 2 - IMO it's the best game since Perfect Dark. Probably like 6th or 7th on my all time top10.

Out of all the consoles this gen the cube has had most play by far, and still has tons more to come with the numerous Resi4 replays and the new Zelda.

if i only had one console it would be the ps2. I own all consoles and have about 35 import games but the ps2 has games that I simply can't do without (gradius v, katamari damashi, tekken 5, virtua fighter, devil may cry 3 etc etc etc). I would never sell my gamecube but the fact is, I play the ps2 more than any other console.

tbh the only reason i think people get their machine modded with the new chips is the play teh copies

Freeloader sees to work just fine and switched machines are as cheap as chips

I am thinking of getting a US/JPN cube and modding it to play uk games.

No real need IMO. Just freeloader when you need to which would be next to never.

I got the UK cube (no need for stepdown etc, no real need for US in general) and FL to play US games (often cheaper).

I thought there were issues displaying Japanese text on UK GCs. I am trying to learn Japanese so I wanted to try play some games in it. Also do UK cubes work with those VGA cables?

Shame but I guess i'll live. Might have to get a PS2 as well tho.

What brass racers? If you want generic racers and fps titles avoid the GC and pick up a XBOX or PS2.

They are just examples and i'm willing to bet there are similar titles of other genres.

I'm going to go with a PS2 for now but I still like the GC a lot from the research i've done/opinions read here.

I got away from PC gaming but I might go back to it for titles such as Doom 3 (after watching that "In the dark" video i'm eager to play it!!)
